We are grateful to be able to release our newest book on an issue that almost all married couples think about, but very few people talk about it in public. And that is the subject of how many children we should be open to having. As Christians, we claim we want Jesus to the Lord of every area of our lives. But when have you ever heard a sermon on this subject? We have decided to address it directly in our book entitled: Sweeter by the Dozen: Making Jesus the Lord of our Family Size.
In the book, we tell the story of how Marcia and I ended up as the parents of twelve precious children. We make the case of how much our world has been hurt by us Christians buying into the lie that family size is totally our decision to be made based on our personal preferences and our desire for comfort, money, etc. In the book, we go into depth linking our positive view of sex coupled with our negative view of large families as unintentionally supporting legalized abortion, and what we now realize is underpopulation in our world today.
“Unfortunately, we believers are truly like sheep”
Unfortunately, we believers are truly like sheep: we instinctively copy and follow that other woolly creature in front of us. While we call ourselves “Christ-followers,” in many ways, we have been more influenced by the values of our secular world than we have impacted it with God’s grace and truth.
This book should shake us from our complacency. One would reasonably expect that even a brief look at the sordid, anti-Christian history of the birth-control movement, as described in the book, should be sufficient to cause every Christian to re-evaluate his position on this subject significantly.
It is our hope and prayer that God will use this book to call many Christ-followers to be “all in” with Jesus in this incredibly important area of life. Resulting in that there will be an upsurge in babies born to Christians and a significant increase in the positive spiritual force needed to end the awful slaughter of unborn little boys and girls in our nation and our world.
